Champagne Delavenne Pere et Fils, Grand Cru, Non Vintage
No Festive celebration is complete without Champagne and this is an excellent one from a small producer based in Bouzy in the heart of the Champagne district. It has a delicious toasty style and would very much appeal to fans of Bollinger or Charles Heidsieck.
Joseph Mellon Sancerre La Graveliere, Loire Valley, France 2018
Made from Sauvignon Blanc grown in the regions flinty soils this has a tight mineral style that confirms why it is one of the worlds greatest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc. Perfect with fish.
Domaine Alexandre Petit Chablis France 2019
This is drinking beautifully already, it has been partially aged in old oak which gives a subtle toastiness to the crisp dry flavours. it has lovely mouthfeel and a very long finish. It would be a perfect choice with your Christmas Turkey.
Domaine Gaelle & Jerome Mercurey, Burgundy, France 2018
One of best finds of this year is this delicious Pinot Noir from the rolling hills and valleys of Mercurey. It has lots of bright red fruit underlined by classic gamey aromas and a lovely balanced acidity. It is simply delicious and a wine to linger over.
Chateau Grand David de Mauvinon, Saint Emilion, France 2016
A proper drop of Claret from the regions most popular area Saint Emilion it has all the structure you would expect with dark red fruits a touch of oak and a complex long finish. This is one to enjoy with Roast Beef and all the trimmings
Krohn Late Bottled Vintage Port 2013
Krohn became part of the Fladgate Partnership a couple of years back and now benefit from the expertise of David Guimarens winemaker at Taylors and Fonseca. This is very much a fruit forward style of Port with bundles of dark fruit a touch of liquorice and nice length of flavour. It will work well with the Christmas Cheeseboard and can be enjoyed over a few days if necessary.
